The Charlotte Spinney Vision Scholarship Program has been proudly providing financial and academic support to Westborough students through a multi-year mentorship program for over 30 years. Instead of a traditional one-time scholarship for high school seniors, the foundation identifies promising middle school students who could benefit from the scholarship program.

Additional details:

  • Selection Process: Students who show academic promise, but could benefit from additional mentoring and support to succeed, are chosen in middle school to participate in the program.
  • Mentorship: Each student is paired with mentors both from the school and the Westborough community. These mentors work closely with the students for several years, offering academic and personal support.
  • Financial Award: During their junior and senior years of high school, recipients receive up to $500 annually to help cover school-related costs. This can include expenses like standardized tests, college application fees, prom tickets, yearbooks, or field trips. Following that, they are also eligible for up to $2,000 annually to reimburse costs associated with college or additional education following high school.
  • Collaboration: The foundation works directly with guidance departments at both Westborough High School and the Sarah W. Gibbons Middle School to ensure students receive the support they need.
